Regarding the Jewish families in Huenfeld: Up to the end of the 19th century and
beyond a flourishing Jewish life had developed in the Huenfeld area. The stores of
Jewish merchants, which had been established in small towns with more or less Jewish
residents, however, in large numbers in Huenfeld represented Jewish life at its best.
About the history of Huenfeld’s Jewry
Postcard vista of
Huenfeld by ”Photo
Rittig” Burghaun, most
likely from the 30ies. On
the left one looks at the
roman catholic church,
on the far right at the
protestant church. The
Synagogue at ”Niedertor”
does not show.
Unfortunately no photo
of the Synagogue exists.
