5.  The Albert Katz family - leather goods store, Hauptstrasse 59 (nowadays #9, Cafe´ Venezia)
Albert Katz (*05.23.1878) and his second wife, Katinka (also called Kaethe) née Stern (*01.02.1884) from Meerholz moved to Fulda in October of 1936, and from there they emigrated to the U.S.A. The couple had four children: Paula
(*12. 11.1905), Fritz (*07.04.1911), Brunhilde (*07.30.1912), and Lothar (*06.11.1917). Paula left Huenfeld in 1926 for Bad Wildungen, and Fritz moved with his parents to Fulda. As of  June 1936 Brunhilde attended a preparatory course at the "Gehringshof” (a Jewish agricultural teaching institution) at Hattenhof near Fulda. A few months later she emigrated
to Palestine. She married one Mr. Nordheimer. Lothar (Larry) moved to Magdeburg in 1935 and from there he fled to
the U.S.A. Apparently all members of the family used to live in New York.  The Katz family shared their home with Julius Katz (*08.26.1847), who died in 1926, and his wife Sabine née Meier (*05. 04.1842 in Hoechst ), who passed away in 1933. Most likely the older Katz couple were the parents of Albert Katz.

6.  The Hermann Katz family - workshop, shoe shop and fashion store, Hauptstrasse 69
     (nowadays #23, Vogt fashion store)
Hermann Katz (*01.15.1886) and his wife Paula Katz (*12.19.1886 in Wiesenbronn) moved to Frankfurt/ Main, Weberstrasse 5 in September of 1935. They emigrated to the U.S.A., both of them died in New York. Hermann’s mother, Klara Katz née Tannenbaum (*08.18.1858 in Spangenberg) was widowed and lived with the Katz family. In 1935 she moved with the Katz family to Frankfurt/ Main. Hermann’s father, Kusel Katz used to work as a real estate agent in Huenfeld. He died as early as 1915.

7.  The Jeanette Nussbaum family, Hauptstrasse 77
Jeanette Nussbaum (*02.07.1867 in Rhina) was a widow. In 1929 she and her sons Leo (*1901 in Burghaun), Max 
(*1913 in Burghaun) and Karl (*1915 in Burghaun) as well as her daughters, Bella (*08.02.1905 in Burghaun), and
Selma (*1902 in Burghaun) moved to Huenfeld. Selma married one Mr. Jacob in Grebenau and lived there as of 1931. Max Nussbaum served a merchant’s apprenticeship with Joseph Strauss’ grocery wholesale in Huenfeld. Subsequently
he worked for the Aha department store in Huenfeld until spring of 1933. After he had spent a short period of time in Palestine he returned in February of 1935 to join his mother in Huenfeld, and in May both of them emigrated to New York, where Max’s siblings, Bella and Karl were already living. 8.  The Leo Nussbaum family - clothing store, Hauptstrasse 77
Leo Nussbaum, his mother Jeanette Nussbaum, and his siblings moved to Huenfeld in April of 1929. Leo had taken over the Aha department store as the new owner. Early in 1931 Leo married Selma Jacob (*08.26.1905) from Grebenau, county of Alsfeld. The couple had two sons: Siegfried (*07.23.1932), and Jakob (*09.04.1933), both born at Huenfeld. In January of 1936 the family moved from Huenfeld to Grebenau, where Leo’s  sister Selma lived. Selma was married to one of the relatives of the Jacob family. Since None of the Nussbaum family members and relatives are listed as victims of the Holocaust it may be assumed that all of them were saved.
