Herz Hess bought the
Herrenmühle in 1878. In 1905
his sons had a new building
constructed. In its March 28,
1905 edition, the Rotenburger
Tageblatt [a local newspaper]
reported on it as follows:
"The new building of the
Hess's mill here in Rotenburg
is expected to make this plant
into one of the most efficient
of its kind in Hesse in terms of
both the quantity and the
quality of its output. The
cleaning and grinding of the
grain will be completely
automatic, and thus carried out
without any interruption in the
operations. We have also
learned that, in addition to the
turbine of 45 hp that has been
in use to date, a new one of
120 hp will be put into
operation in the future; 25,000
kilos of wheat and 10,000
kilograms of rye can then be
milled each day, without the
mill having reached the limits
of its production capacity."
