In 1980 Willy Katz, once more came
for a visit to Nentershausen, where
he stayed for 5 days with his former
neighbors, the Krahs. Once more
he visited his old customers in
Nentershausen and in the
surrounding towns and the Jewish
cemeteries in Nentershausen,
Baumbach, Richelsdorf and Sontra,
where many of his relatives and
friends are buried. In remembrance
to this last visit to the old hometown,
he had his picture taken in front of
the Jewish cemetery, in front of the
former Synagogue and in front of the
Raiffeisen Building, where his former
house stood. Repeatedly he spoke
about the old times without
bitterness and hatred. He said, “I
have not forgotten, but I have
forgiven”. Before his departure, he
requested that Mrs. Krah would cook
him once more boiled potatoes in
their skins (Hessen style), all other
components for his meal, as well as
the dishes, he had brought with him.
Somewhat tired in his thoughts, he
said good-bye to Nentershausen,
since in reality this was the last time
he was in Nentershausen.. Willy
Katz passed away in Israel on
January 13, 1988, just before
completing his 90th year of life.
