The house of Sally Katzenstein
(alias Franz Korwan) on Sylt
"The Jewish painter Franz Korwan-Katzenstein with his wife Franziska (née Achenbach) in the
garden of their house in Westerland, on Norderstrasse, photographed around 1913. The Korwan
house was built directly northwest of the spa hotel (which became the town hall in 1933) and also
accomodated spa visitors. The artist sold this boarding house in 1919 and acquired a house in
Keitum in 1921."
