In December 1920 the grand-parents Meier and Malchen Strauss
celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The photo features
them in the centre surrounded by their grownup children and
other family members. Out of the seven Strauss siblings only
Leopold survived the Shoa. Also victims of the Holocaust
became Max Strauss' wife Therese nee Steinberger, Linas
husband Markus Stern and Nathan's wife Adelheid nee
Braunschweiger.
The Strauss family was very national minded and patriotic after
all. All the four brothers fought as German soldiers in WWI.
During the war Leopold was severly wounded and since that
time he had only one leg.
