Still the synagogue is standing intact at it’s place and storks are
favouring its roof as a resting place like usual.
However, something terrible happens two months later in November
1938: In the night of November 9 to November 10 hell breaks loose
in ‘Ringstrasse’. The local police force is barely able to prevent
hatefilled Burghauners from entering the Jewish homes by force.
Marga and Manfred must have suffered from fear of death. At
daybreak Nazis gone wild smashed the entire interior of the Jewish
school, and then they threw tables and pews into the neighbouring
synagogue dousing everything with gasoline.
